Bubwith Tennis Club LTA, was founded many years ago, but has been on its present site since 1963. The club has approximately 100 members. There are three excellent and well maintained artificial grass courts. One court has county standard floodlighting – there is a £1 coin meter in the clubhouse.
The clubhouse was recently extended and modernised in 2016. There are now toilet facilities, a small kitchen area and rackets and balls in the adjacent storeroom. The noticeboard has up to date information posted on as well as press articles.
Throughout the season we have Ladies, Men’s and Junior coaching sessions as well as Club Nights from May to September on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm and regular Handicap Tournaments too.
We are a friendly village club who warmly welcome new members of all ages. Five doubles teams enter York League matches and we hold some great social events throughout the year.
On the afternoon of Saturday, May 18th, Danny Sapsford and Luke Milligan – both Davis Cup pros from Bright Ideas for Tennis, came to share some great tips including how to improve our interception at the net. 40 children and 30 adults participated in the energetic and fun coaching and a lot of other people came to watch, enjoying a bbq, cake and Pimms. Suitably Sporty Ltd from West Yorkshire, gave us an opportunity to look and feel the part with their wonderful selection of tennis and golf clothing . A perfect way to spend an early summer’s afternoon. Thank you everyone for coming, and a special thanks to Matt Ward from I Can Play Tennis for helping to organise the event.
On Saturday, 21st September we will be holding our End of Season Handicap Tournament during the day and having our supper at The White Swan in Bubwith, one of our sponsors.
