The Charity

The Charity is Bubwith Leisure & Sports Centre, reg.No. 1177049, a Charitable Incorporated Organisation which supersedes the old Unincorporated Trust of the same name.

The objects of the Charity (unchanged) are as follows:

“To further or benefit the residents of Bubwith and the neighbourhood, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating together the said residents and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents.

In furtherance of these objects but not otherwise, the trustees shall have power:

To establish or secure the establishment of a community centre and to maintain or manage or co-operate with any statutory authority in the maintenance and management of such a centre for activities promoted by the charity in furtherance of the above objects.”

The Constitution is to be published shortly and a display version for the glass cabinet in the corridor is in preparation.

Bubwith Parish Council is working to support Bubwith Sports and Leisure Centre to improve facilities for users by applying for grants on their behalf. Recently two grants have been awarded to the Parish Council to make improvements to the Bubwith Sports and Leisure Centre. The first was £7,000 from Drax towards the upgrade of disabled toilets and shower facilities. The second grant awarded is £1,366.25 from the Spaldington Wind Farm Fund to allow the purchase of a defibrillator to be placed on the external wall of the Leisure Centre.
