We are very happy to share this Press Release (October 22nd 2020) from Victoria Aitken Cllr.”Bubwith Leisure and Sports Centre officially unveiled their refurbished toilets on Monday, 12 October with a small socially distanced ceremony after completing the works funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council as part of Commuted Sums from local housing developments.
Steve Young, Volunteer Treasurer at Bubwith Leisure and Sports Centre, was also presented with a plaque from East Riding of Yorkshire Council relating to the Commuted Sums funding the club received.

In total, the Leisure and Sports Centre were awarded £12,425 from Commuted Sums and in addition to this they received £20,000 from the Garfield Weston Foundation, £5,000 from the Bernard Sunley Charitable Foundation and also received £7,700 as a private donation.
Steve Young said: “Bubwith Leisure Centre has moved forward in refurbishing the out of date building and then COVID struck; the final work to be done was to totally refurbish our toilets to a high standard. We were delighted that the Commuted Sums grant of £12,425.00 was awarded to help with the cost of the work.”
Councillor Gary McMaster, portfolio holder for enhancing communities, added: “I am delighted that we have been able to help fund these much needed improvements through Commuted Sums provided by local housing developments as a condition of their planning approval. I was very impressed by the new facilities at Bubwith Leisure and Sports Centre, and wish them well for the future.”

The ladies and gent’s toilet refurbishment was sponsored by Garfield Weston, ERYC Commuted sum funds and the Bernard Sunley Foundation. The toilets were installed by J Hart, plumbing of Thorngumbald and also the redecoration of the corridor and the whole upstairs area, where the new Treehouse Children’s Nursery is situated was completed by Richard Madge.

A great overall job done by everyone – what an improvement!
